A body discovered off Gwynedd has been confirmed as that of 24-year-old missing man Simon Jones.

The north west Wales coroner's office said the body, which was recovered on 14 May from the sea between Aberdovey and Tywyn, had been identified.

Mr Jones, from Llandysul, Ceredigion, had been missing since 9 April after a night out in Aberystwyth.

Earlier, his jeans and driving licence were found on South Beach, Aberystwyth.

He was a fan of rallying and made bodies for rally cars. Earlier this month, a procession of about 75 rally cars drove through Aberystwyth to help raise awareness about his disappearance.

They took the route which CCTV showed Mr Jones walked when he was last seen early on Monday, 9 April.

Following the event, a person came forward with a picture of Mr Jones which was taken at Pier Pressure nightclub on the night he went missing.

He was supposed to stay with friends in Penparcau but failed to arrive after his night out.
