Two airlifted after vehicle hits tree near Rhayader in Powys

Two people have been airlifted to hospital after a vehicle crashed into a tree in Powys.

Emergency services were called at 13:30 BST to the Nant-glas area of Rhayader.

Two people were cut free with one taken by air ambulance to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

The other was airlifted by second air ambulance to the University of Wales hospital in Cardiff. A third person suffered minor injuries.

A back road remained closed for a number of hours and local diversions were put in place.
