£500,000 for extra domestic abuse support workers in Dyfed-Powys

Extra help is available for victims of domestic violence in the Dyfed-Powys Police area, says the police and crime commissioner (PCC).

Christopher Salmon said £500,000 from his budget will pay for five support workers in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.

They will work for Hafan Cymru, Carmarthenshire Domestic Abuse Forum and Swansea-based Grwp Gwalia.

The service starts next month and run until March 2018.

Dyfed-Powys Police recorded 1,346 domestic abuse-related crimes in the year to September 2013.

Mr Salmon said the workers will be in addition to existing independent domestic violence advisor services.
