Heavy vehicles banned from using bridge in Llanymynech

A ban has been placed on heavy vehicles using a crumbling bridge.

Plans to introduce a 7.5 tonne weight limit over the New Bridge Vyrnwy, Llanymynech, have been supported by Powys County Council's Montgomeryshire Committee.

Concrete barriers have been placed along both sides of the bridge and a one-way system has been introduced.

County councillor for Llansanffraid, Gwynfor Thomas said: "The bridge is in a poor state of repairs.

"There's a one way system and there will be a ban on HGVs.

"There's no budget committed to doing the repairs for the next three years."
