Eleven dogs from a hunt pack have been rescued after becoming trapped in a gorge near Aberystwyth.

Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team carried the animals to safety after abseiling 200ft (60m) down a rock face on Plynlimon mountain range.

They loaded the dogs into special carriers, taking part in a total of 14 trips to compete the rescue.

The search team was alerted on Saturday evening but volunteers started the all-day rescue early on Sunday.

The hunt organisers called police to report that the dogs had become stuck on a cliff.

"We've rescued plenty of dogs over the years but 11 in one go has to be something of a record," said team member Glyn Davies.

None of the dogs were injured.
