Closure of last bank in Montgomery is criticised

The closure of the last bank in a Powys town has been criticised despite claims it is no longer widely used.

NatWest will shut its branch in Montgomery on 9 January.

Town councillor Cerys Thomas criticised the closure, saying despite some services being available in nearby Welshpool, poor transport links make the journey inconvenient.

A NatWest spokesman said it had no choice but to close the branch after a "substantial drop in usage".
