A police officer who admitted secretly filming women in a shower has been sacked by his force.

PC Andrew Price was handed a six-month suspended prison sentence at Newport Crown Court after pleading guilty to voyeurism charges.

The 52-year-old, from Newtown, Powys, hid a camera in a bathroom washbag to film the two older and younger women.

Price was dismissed by Dyfed-Powys Police for gross misconduct after his sentencing last week.

Ch Insp Jon Cummins said: "While no offences were committed while Mr Price was on policing duty, the crime that was committed contravened the standards of professional conduct expected of a police officer at all times.

"My thoughts are with the victim and family at this difficult time."

'Shame'

At his sentencing, the court was told Price had filmed nude images of the unsuspecting victims.

Hywel Hughes, prosecuting, said: "A police investigation later revealed he had searched pornography online and search terms indicated he had an interest in young girls."

In addition to a suspended prison sentence, Price must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and register as a sex offender.

"You had everything going for you and it's all gone, and your punishment is your shame," said recorder Patrick Harrington QC.
