Cardigan Castle's £12m restoration has been recognised with a prestigious architectural award.

The castle was recently presented with the Welsh Architecture Award and the RSAW Conservation Award.

It reopened last year following a four year restoration project, which included roof repairs, reconstruction of the castle's walls and a restaurant.

Members of the Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust campaigned for 15 years to save the 900-year-old site.

The judges praised the trust, saying its campaign was "a triumph of community drive and commitment".
