A Powys environmental group has been given £50,000 to develop its plans for turning land into community use.

Cwm Harry Land Trust could take over eight sites of more than 120 acres (49 hectares) in Newtown owned by the county council and Welsh Government.

It hopes to create cycle tracks, set up an allotment, plant meadows and open a cafe, among other ideas.

The Big Lottery Fund has set aside £9m to support the transfer of assets to community ownership.
