Denbigh war memorial wreaths set alight by vandals

Wreaths at a war memorial in Denbigh were set alight in what police are calling "mindless vandalism".

Emergency services were called at about 0200 GMT on 22 January after reports that wreaths placed at the memorial on Remembrance Sunday were alight.

Black burn marks were left on the memorial.

North Wales Police have appealed for witnesses to contact 0845 6071001 (Welsh language), 0845 6071002 (English).

Sergeant Arwel Ellis said: "We are taking this mindless act of vandalism seriously and can reassure the local public that a full investigation will take place and we will pursue all lines of inquiry to try and discover who is responsible.

"We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at this time and saw something to please get in touch."
