56 deliberate fires in Wrexham, say officials

Fire service officials say they have been concerned by a spate of deliberate fires in Wrexham.

In the latest, two crews from Wrexham were called to a deliberate gorse fire in Bradley in the early hours of Thursday.

Police are stepping up patrols around nearby Alyn Waters Country Park.

Latest figures show there were 56 deliberate fires in Wrexham in April 2011 compared with 31 in April 2010.

North Wales Fire and Rescue said the incidents are having a "major impact" on resources.
