Woman tied up in Gresford after disturbing burglar

A woman was tied up after disturbing a burglar before he escaped with a safe from a house in Wrexham.

The woman, a visitor to the property on Chester Road, Gresford, was not hurt but North Wales Police say she has been shaken by Monday morning's robbery.

Police are carrying out house-to-house inquiries around the area.

The man in his late teens to early 20s with short dark hair and a pale complexion is believed to have entered the house between 0830-0900 BST.

He restrained the woman after she disturbed him. She was able to free herself and then alerted the police.

A safe was later recovered on the other side of Wrexham. But, while police say it is not the one taken from the Gresford house, they are trying to determine whether the two may be linked in some way.

Det Sgt Paul Kelly said officers in the force's burglary unit want to hear from anyone who may have seen the man, who was described as having been smartly dressed, wearing a white shirt with dark trousers.
