Driver appeal after car hits tree on A550 in Flintshire

Police are appealing for the driver of a red Vauxhall Vectra to contact them about a crash in which another car left the road and hit a tree.

The A550 in Flintshire between the A5118 Penymynydd and the A5104 Penyffordd was closed for several hours after the incident at 06:50 BST.

The driver and a passenger of a blue Citroen Saxo were taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital with serious injuries.

North Wales Police initially said the incident had involved two vehicles.

Traffic between Wrexham and Dobshill was affected when the road was closed in both directions while emergency services were at the scene.

Police said the red Vauxhall Vectra had a spoiler attached to the boot.

Witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 if in Wales, or 08456071001 (Welsh line) 08456071002 (English line).
