Councillors defer vote over Gwaenysgor farm slurry pit

Plans to create a large slurry pit in an area of outstanding beauty in Flintshire have been put on hold.

Council officials had recommended approval of plans for the 70m (229ft) long pool at Rectory Lane, Gwaenysgor, near Prestatyn.

Objectors expressed concerns about smells and potential health hazards as well as the scale of the proposals at Ty Isaf Farm.

The planning committee deferred the application, seeking more details.

Councillors asked for more information about whether alternative proposals had been considered.

A report to the committee said that provided the site was landscaped, it would have "no significant adverse impact" on the neighbouring properties, the local conservation area or the area of outstanding natural beauty.
