Haydn Evans: Cheshire Police find body at Carden Park lake
Police searching for a Flintshire teenager say clothes found on a body discovered in a lake on Friday match those of the missing 18-year-old.
Haydn Evans, from Mold, disappeared eight days before Christmas after attending a party at Carden Park Hotel in Broxton.
A formal identification has not yet been carried out. A post-mortem will be held on Saturday.
Cheshire Constabulary said there are no suspicious circumstances.
Up to 50 officers and volunteers have been searching the area since 18 December.
It followed series of appeals by relatives to find the teenager.
On Friday afternoon, "police underwater search teams discovered what appears to be a body in a lake at Carden Park near Chester".
The statement added: "Police remain at the scene where attempts are underway to recover the body. Identification of the deceased has not yet taken place."
The discovery followed a massive search for the teenager, after he failed to return home from the party organised his employers, a Mold construction company.
The search team included members of the Cheshire Search and Rescue team, a volunteer group, while farmers and landowners in the area were asked to check their properties and outbuildings.
Haydn was last seen at the entrance of the Carden Park hotel at 01:00 GMT on Saturday, 17 December.
On Wednesday, his family appealed for help to trace him, stating that "words cannot describe the despair that we feel".
"Christmas has passed and Haydn′s presents remain unopened," they said.
"None of us can even consider celebrating this Christmas time whilst he is still missing.
"Every day that passes becomes more difficult and we have a huge void in our lives."
