Pregnant crash victim named as Christina Barchetti and unborn baby Bella

A pregnant woman who died with her unborn baby in a car crash has been named as Christina Barchetti.

Miss Barchetti's daughter was named Bella, her devastated family has said.

Emergency services were called to the A541 in Mold, Flintshire, after Miss Barchetti's silver Ford Ka was in collision with a silver BMW 3-series at 19:00 BST on Monday.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and then later bailed.

Officers are appealing for witnesses.

Police said the two cars crashed close to the end of the dual carriageway adjacent to the Plas Teg Estate.

The BMW was travelling towards Mold, the Ford in the opposite direction.

'Community shaken'

Despite efforts made at the scene, police said Bella could not be saved.

Sgt Jane Thomas of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "I'd like to hear from anyone who was travelling along the A541 Road in Pontblyddyn yesterday evening and may have witnessed the collision to contact the police.

"At this time the lady's family are being supported by a specialist family liaison officer.

"As you can imagine, they are devastated."

She said it was a "tragic incident which will have shaken the local community".
