Firefighters damp down after Deeside wood yard blaze

Firefighters are damping down after a blaze involving 1,000 tonnes of wood chip at a Flintshire industrial estate.

Four crews were called to UPM Shotton paper mill at Deeside Industrial Estate on Wednesday at 10:10 GMT.

Firefighters used main jets and hose reels to tackle the blaze and a mechanical digger to move piles of wood chip.

The company said production had not been affected. There were no injuries reported.
