Police rescuers get stuck in mud at Foryd Harbour, Rhyl

Two police officers who tried to rescue a woman from mud in a harbour had to be freed after they got stuck themselves.

The female officers reached the woman, who was clinging to a buoy at Foryd Harbour, Rhyl, on Sunday night.

Coastguards pulled the woman out on a stretcher, then helped the officers - who had lost their boots in knee-deep mud - reach the river bank.

The woman, in her 40s, was suffering from the effects of cold, and was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan.
