Horseshoe Pass on the A542 reopens after road crash
The Horseshoe Pass on the A542 above Llangollen has re-opened after an accident closed it in both directions.
A car left the road and fell down an embankment on Tuesday morning and a man had to be airlifted from the scene.
The road was closed between the A5104 at Llandegla and the B5103 at Llangollen, Denbighshire.
The route past the Ponderosa cafe was also closed, police said, and diversions were put in place but all closures have been lifted.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 10:30 BST.
"We sent a crew in an emergency ambulance and a Wales Air Ambulance to the scene, and a man in his 30s was airlifted to Wrexham Maelor Hospital," added the spokesperson.
Following the incident, North Wales AM Llyr Gruffydd said safety on the road needed to be improved.
"It's only a matter of weeks since the last serious accident and calls were made then to improve safety on the pass," he said.
"We urgently need to consider how best to minimise the dangers, whether it's safety barriers or speed restrictions."
Firefighters and ambulance staff worked to release the casualty from the car.
