Three-week-old baby boy's death in Holywell is unexplained

The unexplained death of a three-week-old baby boy is being investigated by North Wales Police.

Paramedics alerted police after dealing with an "infant in difficulty" at an address in Holywell, Flintshire, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Det Insp Simon Williams said the boy was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, where he was pronounced dead.

The coroner has been informed.

Mr Williams said: "We were alerted by the ambulance service to an infant in difficulty at an address in Wats Dyke Avenue, Holywelll at 1.16am today (Tuesday September 30).

"The boy, who was nearly three weeks old, was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where unfortunately he was pronounced dead.

"We are currently treating his death as unexplained."
