Woman climbs onto roof of Rhostyllen Co-op supermarket

A police negotiator helped talk down a woman who climbed onto a supermarket roof just outside Wrexham.

The woman, thought to be in her 20s, scaled the Co-operative on Wrexham Road in Rhostyllen at about 11:00 BST on Saturday.

Police were called and Wrexham Road was closed from Henblas Street to the Rhostyllen roundabout.

The woman was safely brought down with the help of the fire service. She was detained and taken to hospital.

Ch Insp Dave Roome said: "I would particularly like to thank members of the public - including motorists - for their patience and understanding."

Wrexham Road was re-opened just before 13:00 BST.

A Co-op spokesman confirmed there was an incident at the store in Rhostyllen at about 11:30 BST and said the emergency services attended.
