The death of a two-month-old baby is being investigated by North Wales Police.

The boy, from Connah's Quay in Flintshire, was admitted to the Countess of Chester Hospital last Thursday.

He was transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool but died on Saturday.

A 22-year-old man from Connah's Quay was arrested on Sunday and is being questioned.

Police said they had been contacted by concerned health officials last Thursday.

A spokesperson for the North Wales force said a joint investigation into the child's death is under way and a post mortem examination has been conducted.

"As this is an on-going investigation it would be inappropriate to add anything further at this time," said the police official.

The coroner has also been informed.
