About 100 people have gathered in Mold in support of the victim of a knife attack at a Tesco store in the town.

Sarandev Bhambra, 24, from Yorkshire, suffered deep cuts to the left hand, back and to the back of his head following an attack with a hammer and a machete at the store on 14 January.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder.

The rally is being held in Daniel Owen Square but Mr Bhambra's family are not present but have welcomed the support.

In a joint statement, Flintshire council chief executive Colin Everett and councillor Chris Bithell said: "Local members and council officers acknowledge and value the local community's response following this horrific incident."
