Connah's Quay baths to be run as social enterprise
A new group has taken over the former Flintshire council-run public swimming baths in Connah's Quay.
The renamed Cambrian Aquatics Sports Centre will be run as a not-for-profit social enterprise.
Boss Simon Morgan said staff and local people had played their part in keeping the facility "alive and kicking".
Flintshire council has been looking to transfer ownership of some facilities to cut costs.
Mr Morgan, one of four directors at Cambrian Aquatics Ltd which runs the facilities, said it would be working with nearby Coleg Cambria to provide apprenticeship opportunities for 16 to 25-year-olds looking for a career in the leisure industry.
The sports centre will receive subsidies from Flintshire council and Connah's Quay town council.
