Second body found in Menai Strait

Police are investigating after a man's body was found in the Menai Strait, between Anglesey and Gwynedd.

It is the second body to be found in the waterway this week.

Officers had been called to the Menai suspension bridge following reports that a man was threatening to jump on Friday morning.

North Wales Police said the incident has no connection to the 19-year-old teenager missing from Anglesey.

Coastguards, 22 Squadron from RAF Valley, and the ambulance service were involved in Friday's operation.

The man was taken to Ysybty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor where he was pronounced dead.

Formal identification of the body has taken place and family members have been informed.

The other body - also of a man - was discovered on Tuesday.

It has been confirmed that neither incident is connected to that of a 19-year-old man reported missing from Menai Bridge, and who was the suspect of a large-scale search of the area on 28 December.
