The body of a man has been found in the sea at Rhosneigr on Anglesey, say North Wales Police.

An operation to recover the body was mounted on Wednesday afternoon, but the man is yet to be identified.

It comes a week after two friends got into difficulty in the sea at Cable Bay.

Lewis Darroch, 22, from Valley on the island, died. A search was eventually called off for Callum MacKay, also 22.

Both men got into difficulties in the sea near Rhosneigr last Wednesday evening, 24 August.

Police believe one of the men went for a swim and when he got into difficulty, the other went in to help him.

Mr Darroch was recovered from the sea by helicopter but pronounced dead on arrival at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. An inquest has been adjourned.
