A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man accused of driving his 4x4 vehicle to the top of Snowdon.

Craig Williams, 39, from Cheltenham, failed to appear before magistrates in Caernarfon on Friday.

He is accused of driving on the mountain twice in September, but denies dangerous driving and is due to stand trial at crown court.

The court heard Mr Williams received benefits and could not afford to travel the 160 miles to the Caernarfon court.

His solicitor said he had handed himself in at Cheltenham police station, anticipating that a warrant would be issued, so police could bring him to court.
