Elderly woman hurt in police car collision in Gwynedd

North Wales Police are investigating after an elderly woman was seriously injured in a collision with one of the force's marked cars in Gwynedd.

The incident happened on the A487 at Penrhyndeudraeth, at the junction with Trem-y-Moelwyn, on Saturday at about 17:00 GMT.

The pedestrian is being treated at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

Police said the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) had been informed.

The IPCC is yet to make a decision on whether to take over the investigation, allow North Wales Police to continue with their inquiry alone, or to supervise them.
