Body recovered from the Menai Strait

The body of a man has been recovered by coastguards from the Menai Strait, near Caernarfon Castle.

Holyhead coastguards were alerted at 10:01 GMT on Sunday after a walker saw the body, thought to be that of a man in his 40s, in the water.

Maris lifeboat and Llandwrog coastguards attended, along with North Wales Police and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service.

Police are investigating but say there are no suspicious circumstances.

The Menai Strait is a narrow stretch of tidal water, which separates the island of Anglesey from mainland Wales.
