Identification of body in Menai Strait due, say police

North Wales Police say formal identification of a body recovered from the Menai Strait, close to Caernarfon Castle, is due to take place on Monday.

Holyhead coastguards were alerted on Sunday morning after a walker saw the body, thought to be that of a man in his 40s, in the water.

Beaumaris lifeboat and Llandwrog coastguards attended, along with police and paramedics.

Police are investigating but say there are no suspicious circumstances.

Next of kin have been informed.
