A former pupil has denied hacking his school's computer system and posting another student's report on social networking site Facebook.

Matthew Higgins, 19, from Colwyn Bay denies setting up a fake e-mail account in a teacher's name while studying at Eirias High School in the Conwy town.

At Llandudno Magistrates Court, he pleaded not guilty to one offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

The defendant asked for the case to be heard at crown court, and was bailed.

A condition of bail is that he does not contact the pupil whose report he is accused of accessing.

It is alleged that he caused a computer to perform a function with intent to secure unauthorised access on 23 March, 2011.

After the hearing Mr Higgins, who is studying biomedical science at university, said he was looking forward to clearing his name.
