Rapper Dizzee Rascal will headline the music and wakeboarding festival Wakestock later this year, it has been announced.

The event will take place at Penrhos, Pwllheli in Gwynedd on 6-8 July.

Singer-songwriter Rascal will join Brit Award nominee Ed Sheeran and Calvin Harris as the third headliner.

Last year's event attracted 25,000 people and organisers are confident the festival will be a sell-out as tickets go on sale.

Bex Tappin, Wakestock spokeswoman, said Rascal was a festival hit.

"We're mega excited to welcome legendary rapper, songwriter and record producer Dizzee Rascal to Wakestock 2012," she said.

"Dizzee is a Wakestock favourite after paying us a visit back in 2009 where as well as proving to be a top man, he made the crowd go wild with a set that included smash hits Bonkers and Dance Wiv Me."

Sheeran, who appeared in 2011's Wakestock, has been nominated for four awards at this year's Brits.

Ms Tappin said they were "honoured" to have him back again for 2012.

She added: "Calvin's sets are something to behold and he's sure to get the party going at Wakestock this summer."

Organisers said more acts will be announced soon.
