A woman killed when a car hit a shop in Rhos on Sea, Conwy, has been named.

Pedestrian Celia Mary Service, 72, from Colwyn Bay, died in the incident involving a Jaguar car at about 15:36 BST on Monday.

Another woman was seriously injured and the car driver was taken to hospital. The promenade was closed between Cayley Embankment and Penrhyn Road.

Police would like to speak to the occupants of a green Renault Scenic car which stopped to offer assistance.

"The Jaguar car involved is understood to have passed directly in front of them before mounting the footpath and the passenger of the Renault Scenic is known to have got out of the vehicle immediately and run across the scene to offer assistance," said Pc Mark Lightfoot.

"We are keen to trace this person as it is likely that the occupants of the Renault Scenic may have witnessed the collision and the situation leading up to it," he added.

North Wales Police are also asking anyone who saw the collision, or anyone with information on the collision, to contact the Roads Policing Unit at St Asaph on 101.
