Speeding drivers targeted near Caernarfon schools

Speeding drivers near Caernarfon schools are being targeted by North Wales Police following complaints by head teachers and parents.

Extra police and a police CCTV van are used in the operation for the first week of October.

Police said they had received a number of calls about cars breaking speed limits while children made their way to and from school.

Officers say offenders will be prosecuted if appropriate.

"In addition to ensuring all students remain safe whilst going to and from school we would also like to educate drivers but will take positive action if necessary," said the local police community support officer, Richard Pepper.

Anyone concerned about dangerous or speeding drivers is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
