10 jobs hit at Antena TV production company

An independent TV company has issued redundancy notices to 10 members of staff due to a cut in work from Welsh language broadcaster S4C.

Antena currently employs 26 at its head office in Caernarfon.

Director Iestyn Garlick told BBC Radio Cymru's Post Cyntaf its current S4C contract for youth programme Y Lle is to be reduced from 52 programmes a year to 30 from next year.

S4C said staffing was a matter for the firm but it sympathised with staff.

Mr Garlick would not be drawn on compulsory redundancies saying it would not be appropriate to comment during the consultation period.
