RNLI rescues stricken yacht off Holyhead

A stricken yacht with three people on board was rescued by the RNLI after it was damaged in near gale-force winds off Holyhead.

The 33ft vessel got into difficulty eight miles off shore when its mast broke at about 02:20 BST on Saturday.

A rescue crew from Holyhead was unable to reach the yacht, near the Skerries Lighthouse, due to a large sea swell.

It was escorted back to Holyhead Marina six hours later, after its crew cut the mast free.
