Kayaker who died at Bala Lake named as Paul Davies
A man who died after his kayak capsized in a Snowdonia lake has been named as Paul Davies.
Mr Davies, 34, of Runcorn in Cheshire, was reported missing when he failed to return to shore following the incident at Bala Lake on Saturday. Another man and a child on the boat were unharmed.
Mr Davies' body was recovered on Sunday following a 24-hour search of the area by emergency services.
His death is being investigated by the coroner for north west Wales.
The alarm was raised at 17:30 BST on Saturday when a major operation was launched in an attempt to find Mr Davies.
It involved a RAF Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley on Anglesey, members of the North East Wales Search and Rescue team, and the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service's water incident unit.
The man and child, who made it safely to the shore, were taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital as a precaution.
