Llandudno empty speedboat sparks sea search

An empty speedboat off the Conwy coast sparked a sea and shoreline search for its occupants.

The 16ft vessel was spotted anchored off Llandudno's Great Orme headland by a passing boat which alerted coastguards at 15:00 BST on Monday.

Fears grew for the occupants because the speedboat contained a towel, bathing gear and food.

But after a lifeboat was launched and coastguards made inquiries at local marinas, the owner was found.

The search lasted more than an hour and the owner was safe and well.
