Up to 600 future homes could be built in Abergele in a masterplan being discussed by councillors in Conwy.

Land for housing and business is part of the area's local development plan, which looks at what the town might look like in 2022.

If agreed, the homes would eventually be built on three sites to the south east of the town. A six-week public consultation will take place later.

A first phase within three years would involve 150 homes off Rhuddlan Road.

Developer Anwyl has already been given planning permission for 95 homes.

The masterplan includes:

  • A £3m link road for all the new housing
  • Six hectares of open space to be included in plans
  • Potential for a small shop development suggested

The proposals will be discussed by a special council committee meeting on Wednesday.
