A 31-year-old man has been arrested after large rocks were left on roads in Gwynedd, causing several crashes.

Police said the rocks were left on the A499 near Llandwrog and the B4418 near Talysarn over the past few weeks, putting lives at risk and damaging vehicles.

The man was arrested and interviewed on suspicion of causing criminal damage.

He has been bailed pending further inquiries, North Wales Police added.

Neil Thomas, district inspector for the area, said: "Over the past few weeks rocks have been left on these roads which have resulted in several collisions.

"Not only has this caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to the vehicles but these mindless acts have put the lives of the drivers at risk."

Officers renewed an appeal for anyone with information about the incidents to contact North Wales Police on the non-emergency 101 phone number.
