Eight puppies have been found dumped in a rubbish bin in Flintshire.

The newborns were discovered by children on Chester Road East, Queensferry, on Thursday.

The Staffordshire bull terrier cross pups are just days old and some still had their umbilical cords attached.

Tim Jones from animal charity the RSPCA said: "It is totally unnecessary and these puppies could have died if nobody had heard them."

He appealed for witnesses to come forward.
