Man in hospital after house fire in Blaenau Ffestiniog

A man has been taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after being rescued from a house fire in Gwynedd in the early hours.

A woman was treated at the scene at High Street, Blaenau Ffestiniog, by paramedics.

She escaped from the fire after being alerted by a smoke alarm, said North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighters rescued the man. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said it sent two vehicles to the address at 02:44 BST on Monday.

"A man was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd, and a woman was given a precautionary check-up at the scene," said an ambulance service official.
