A £5.3m scheme to boost public transport links in Port Talbot has been given the go-ahead.

New bus bays and taxi zones will be set up next to the rebuilt Parkway station.

Economy Secretary Ken Skates said it would form "the nucleus for a well connected, modern public transport network" for the area.

He said it was vital such schemes were further boosted by projects such as electrification of the main line to Swansea.

Just over half the money for the new transport hub is being provided by the Welsh Government, with the rest coming from the European Regional Development Fund.

"Improving local public transport connection forms a central part of our vision for transport in Wales," said Mr Skates.
