Pair bailed after Newport Christmas Day taxi robbery

Gwent Police have bailed two men in connection with the robbery of a taxi driver early on Christmas Day.

Officers attended a report of a robbery at 0149 GMT on Saturday morning outside the Royal Gwent Hospital in Cardiff Road, Newport.

Taxi driver Irfan Latif, 38, who works for Globe Taxis in Newport, had his car stolen in the incident.

Gwent Police say two men were arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further inquiries.
