Two rescued from fire in Trebanog, Rhondda

Two people have been taken to hospital after being rescued from an early morning house fire in Rhondda.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service say they were rescued from the smoke-filled home in Ton Hywel, Trebanog, and taken by ambulance to hospital.

Fire crews from Porth and Tonypandy were called to the blaze at 0118 GMT.

The ground floor was severely damaged and the first floor had heavy smoke damage. The condition of the two people is not known.

An investigation will take place to try to establish the cause of the blaze.
