Two rescued and seven evacuated from Brynmawr flat fire

Two people have been rescued and seven evacuated from a block of flats after an early morning fire in Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent.

Firefighters were called to the second floor of a four storey building on Beaufort Street at 0153 GMT.

The Welsh Ambulance Service says one person was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny but the extent of their injuries is not known.

Residents have not yet returned to their homes.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Three fire engines - from Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale and Blaenau Gwent - attended the incident and firefighters left about an hour after the call.
