'Rough sleeper' badly burned in Newport fire

A man thought to be sleeping rough was seriously injured when a fire was started in the forecourt of a property in Newport.

Gwent Police say the man, who has yet to be identified, has been transferred to the specialist burns unit at Swansea's Morriston Hospital.

Firefighters put out the blaze and are now helping police to investigate how it started.

Crews were called to an address in Chepstow Road at 2210 GMT.

Police say they have not made any arrests.

They are appealing to anyone who was in the area between 1900 and 2215 GMT to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
