Police are trying to find a prisoner who has failed to return to a Monmouthshire jail.

Leon Passmore, 27, is serving six years at Prescoed open prison near Usk for robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

It is believed he could be in the Swansea area as he has contacts there.

Gwent Police say the public are advised not to approach him. Officers have put their operational plan into action to try and find Passmore.

Passmore, who was due to return to the prison on Monday, was convicted and sentenced at Swansea Crown Court in April 2009.

He is described as white with a tanned complexion, 5ft 9ins (1.75m) tall, of medium/large build, with short brown hair and brown eyes.
