Body thought to be missing Conwy woman Pat Howell, 72

Police believe a body found in the Conwy Valley is that of missing 72-year-old pensioner Pat Howell.

Mrs Howell, of Mochdre, Colwyn Bay, had not been seen since Friday and a body was discovered on Monday.

North Wales Police said her family had been informed, and a formal identification was expected to take place on Wednesday.

Mrs Howell's car was left near Caerhun cemetery near Dolgarrog. It is thought she could have slipped from a footpath.

She was last seen leaving the car carrying a bag and walking stick.

The body was found in a steep wooded area above Dolgarrog.

Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team, the North Wales Police helicopter, search dogs and coastguards had been looking for the pensioner.

Police do not believe the death was suspicious.
