Firefighters damp down scrapyard after Pontypridd blaze

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has tackled a blaze at a scrapyard in Pontypridd.

Firefighters were called to the scrapyard at Glyntaff Sidings at about 1711 BST and expected to be damping down until the early hours of Friday.

Two fire engines and three water bowsers were required.

Meanwhile, at 2140 BST, the service was also tackling a mountain fire in Cwmcarn, which it described as one kilometre square in size.

A spokeswoman said five appliances and two water bowsers were being used.
